Life is a wonderful gift

25 January 2023

Mom, do you know that there are kids in America who believe Santa brings them presents?" While I was washing the dishes with my mother, I told her this incredible story. I just couldn't believe there were kids falling for it. How stupid did you have to be? Didn't everyone know that Sinterklaas (Saint Nicolas) brings presents?

It's remarkable. How I, completely convinced of an implausible story, could not believe how others could believe in a similar story. What a life lesson at such a young age!

There are so many things we've been told and taken for granted. Because they were told by certain people, or because everyone believed in them. It's so important to keep an open mind about everything, because everything you've ever taken for granted or believed can look completely different from another perspective.

How we see the world and how we see ourselves is largely determined by all these perspectives.

Last week I was on a self-care retreat to force myself to focus on self-care for a few days (yes, I need to force myself because otherwise it won't happen). There were a few workshops I participated in, all super interesting. During one of the workshops I got a great insight.

Do you know that feeling? That you hear 1 sentence during a workshop that generates a whole wave of insights? That happened to me.

It was about the idea that at conception 1 sperm cell had won the battle for the egg cell and that you already start as a winner! Suddenly it flashed in my head that the egg chooses which sperm to let in. So in fact, you are not a conqueror, but the chosen one.

No idea if it really works that way biologically, but I was touched. If it is true, it means we can let go of the struggle. The myth of “battle” is imprinted in our collective consciousness. From our very beginning, we are supposedly fighting for survival. What if we could collectively let go of the struggle for survival? Because we are chosen. We were chosen to be here. Deeply desired from the very first moment.

The egg cell that chooses which seed to let in. The woman, as a powerful energy who chooses what she creates and no longer conquered energy. The creation that is desired, that is chosen. No longer from struggle, but from strength and choice.

Close your eyes for a moment and feel the effect. You are chosen. You are not the product of a struggle and a victor and an egg that is powerless. You have been chosen. You are what creation intended. You're welcome.

When I feel that in my body, I feel a sense of calm coming in. As if I can ground more, allow myself, my body and my place on Earth better. Life is not a struggle. Life is a wonderful gift.

Love,

Inge
