The rainbow crystal in you

8 February 2023

“Mathilde, look at me!” She turned her head towards me and I saw the brilliant light reflected in her eyes. Click. I took a picture of her.

It was 2002 and I was in Paris with my very best friend. As so often we were on an adventure in this beautiful city and had conceived the idea of taking beautiful pictures of each other.

There we were. Under a cloudy Parisian sky where the occasional ray of sun shone down on our faces. With a bag full of croissants bought from a luxury bakery and a cup of steaming coffee. You can hardly think of a better setting.

But still…

It did not work.

Every time I looked at my soul sister, I saw a perfect picture. I quickly took a picture, but what I saw on the screen did not at all match what I saw in front of me. And that happened not once, but every time. I saw my girlfriend shining in the light, but as soon as I looked at the image on the screen, I couldn't see any of that beauty, any of the radiance I was able to see without the camera. I didn't understand this at all.

It wasn't until years later that I understood what was going on. I finally understood why that photo session just didn't work like I thought it would and what was going on energetically. The energy between us hadn't been right for a long time, but I couldn't see it then. Probably just didn't want to see it either.

Maybe you recognize it : we lightworkers have a tendency to see the purity of the soul of someone. The love and light they actually are. The best version of them.  We look at someone's soul and respond to it. This is because all ego, wounds and imperfections are only an illusion anyway and not who someone really is.

We see someone's potential. The version someone could be if it weren't for that annoying personality. The version filtering through their wounds, showing us the illusion they created. The greatest gift we can give someone: to see someone for who he or she really is. Actually see someone. See through all the layers and recognize them in their pure form.  At the same time, it is also one of the most harmful things you can do to yourself and others.

Because we are here in human form with flaws, that make us who we are. The flaws distort our light and create the wildest patterns in this world. Random chaos. It’s something that we have come here to experience and for which we must take responsibility. If someone denies our distortions, that person doesn't see us in our full selves, just a fragmented part of us.

If you only see the "whole" part of someone, there is also the danger that you will accept certain behavior that is not healthy for you. “I see who he really is! "This is not the real Daniel." It took me a long time to break free from this pattern. Now I can finally forgive myself for that . Because some things I really didn't see. Because I COULDN'T see it.

Just like my girlfriend's pictures, I saw the perfection, the radiant light. The camera made the translation for me into what was in front of me in this reality. If I could have seen the whole spectrum in its entirety, it would undoubtedly have been a beautiful photo. We even might have been friends still.

Look at the full spectrum. At the light, and the distortions of the light. Just like the crystal prisms casting rainbows that you can hang in front of your window so that the sunlight is broken into beautiful colors. Really look at someone. In all aspects. That is truly the most beautiful gift you can give someone.
