Unconditional

22 February 2023

“Rape”, “locked in the dark”, “losing your children”. These were the answers a friend of mine got to her question: what is the worst thing that can happen to you as a human being?

She asked me the same question. Of course, immediately all kinds of horror scenarios of terrible pain and fear also came to my mind. But underneath all that, there was something deeper I was feeling. So, I started digging for what was underneath. Like peeling back the layers of an onion.  And then suddenly I knew.

The most terrible thing that can happen to a person is the feeling that no one loves you and no one wants your love. Not feeling loved means feeling like you don't belong, that you are cut off from everyone else. Such deep loneliness is contained in that feeling. It goes against what I believe it means to be a human on earth.

Because love means we are connected. Everything that touches your life also touches mine. Without that connection we are lost. Without each other we are disconnected and destined for  failure. We all carry one of the following core wounds: feeling that you are not wanted or feeling that you are not worthy. Both are essentially about love: love that you have been denied or love that you have to earn.

We as humanity have lost our faith in unconditional love. We were born in a conditional world where we have to work for love. “Love is a verb”, “love hurts”, “love cannot last forever” are beliefs infused into our minds and frequencies from early childhood. These are beliefs in the collective consciousness. It diverts our focus from the fact that love is actually the building block of our reality.

Love is to the soul what oxygen is to the body. Life. Essence.

We can hold our breath for a while, our body can adapt to a lower oxygen level. But we can't live without it. Love is the oxygen of our soul, the breath of our soul. You breathe it in and you breathe it out. And just like with your breath, love needs to be both inhaled as exhaled. You can't just breathe in, you'll have to let go of what you've breathed in at some point. It is the same with love. You take in love and at some point, you have to send it back out into the world. Or you will explode.

So, there's no point in keeping score. How much you got and how much you give. When you inhale deeply, you should also exhale deeply. Sending out a lot of love means you are making room to receive a lot more love. Our souls have unlimited space available for this precious energy. And although it sometimes seems that the balance is lost, on a soul level love is always in balance.

Love is the field that holds us all and connects us all. It's there for all of us. Always, unconditionally.
